About The Position

This role involves the installation, inspection, cleaning, care, and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment. The technician will work with gas, steam, and electrical systems, ensuring proper operation and adherence to safety standards. The position also requires providing excellent guest service and maintaining department standards.

Requirements

  • Applicant must be 18 years of age or older, with a minimum of 5-7 years of field experience in the trade systems
  • Ability to understand and commission new commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Will be required to join Local 40 union and pay respective dues.
  • Knowledge of local health department codes.
  • Must be able to understand and operate under Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines and other food safety/sanitary guidelines.
  • Knowledge of applicable code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance and safe operation of tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Ability & willingness to work a variety of schedules, overtime, weekends and holidays with short notice.
  • Ability and willingness to respond to incidents in locations requiring climbing, fall-protection, and other non-traditional work-environments
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written on a technical level.
  • Must have the ability to motivate employees and work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • CFESA (Commercial Food Equipment Service Association) certified is not required, but a plus.
  • 5-10 year experience of commercial kitchen equipment repair.
  • AA degree or certificate of completion of Trade school.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees and management, and willingness to give assistance to team members to complete tasks at hand from a department level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure; proactive thinker/self-starter.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as mechanical prints, safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, Knowledge of MAXIMO CMMS or equivalent software a plus.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; knowledge of inventory software, i.e. Maximo
  • Ability to contribute to system improvement process

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel and work with hands/arms above shoulder level for extended periods of time. Occasional ladder or roof access may be necessary. Exposure to noise, heat, cold, slippery, wet dirty conditions and extensive walking.
  • Working knowledge of gas/steam/electrical systems installed on commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Installation of new equipment and supporting work
  • Installs electrical components and controls to circuits and test for proper operation
  • Inspects all cooking equipment, controls and devices within said equipment. Basic knowledge of LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out).
  • Equipment cleaning, care and maintenance
  • Adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures within Technical Services and USH at large
  • Promotes and provides extraordinary guest service for both internal and external guests; answer questions, offer information, and provide assistance in a courteous manner
  • Understands and demonstrates the proper use of safety practices and ensures department standards are maintained and safety policies for the Park upheld.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
