The Refrigeration Engineer / Refrigeration Project Engineer is responsible for performing duties related to safe processes, projects, products, and people within Pilgrim's sites. This includes the development and implementation of CAPEX Ammonia Refrigeration projects, encompassing budgeting, scope development, drawing management, contractor oversight, and project close-out. The role also involves refrigeration system design, equipment selection, piping diagrams, system controls, pipe sizing, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. A key aspect of the position is troubleshooting and making recommendations for the safe and effective operation of ammonia refrigeration systems and equipment, as well as completing necessary engineering calculations. The engineer must understand and adhere to OSHA PSM codes and Standards, IIAR/ANSI/ASHRAE codes and standards, and participate in Management of Change procedures, Process Hazards Analysis (PHAs), and Incident Investigations using Root Cause Analysis for ammonia leaks. Continuous improvement of PSM/RMP programs and staying updated on new refrigeration codes and standards are also essential. The role requires travel to Pilgrim's sites for operational oversight, safety compliance, and project implementation.
