About The Position

We're currently seeking an enthusiastic Refrigeration Design Engineer to join our engineering group. In this role, you will be responsible for engineering and designing customer orders, including capacity calculations, component selection, and the creation of detailed designs and drawings using AutoCAD and related software. You will collaborate closely with industrial engineering, production, and lab teams to ensure efficiency and resolve issues related to customer orders. Requirements

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of 2-D and 3-D CAD software
  • 3+ years of experience working with sheet metal design
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems and components, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant computer software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to collaborate effectively across teams and with stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial refrigeration experience is a strong asset.
  • Background in refrigeration or related fields is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering customer orders: Perform capacity calculations, refrigeration component selection, and create detailed designs for special orders using AutoCAD and Solid Edge. This includes designing sheet metals, tubes, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Management: Create and manage engineering BOMs for designated product lines, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely release to the production/manufacturing department.
  • Production Support: Work with manufacturing and production teams to optimize material usage and assembly processes, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Research & Development (R&D): Conduct heat transfer and fluid dynamics calculations, select and design new components and parts, optimize costs, and develop new products, including creating drawings and BOMs.
  • Lab Work: Perform lab tests, select or design lab equipment, and set up testing equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
