About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining, operating and repairing air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. This position is not responsible for providing patient care. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, located at University of Utah Hospital.

Requirements

Three (3) years of experience in refrigeration repair, or the equivalency.
Current Environmental Protection Agency license.
Experience in silver-soldering.
Depending upon department of hire, a valid, State of Utah Driver's License may be required.

Nice To Haves

Certification from an accredited HVAC & R college.
Technical training in refrigeration and electrical controls.

Responsibilities

Maintains and rebuilds hermetically and semi-hermetically sealed compressor systems by using a hermetic compressor analyzer and electrical tester to isolate the malfunctioning parts.
Recharges a variety of air conditioning and refrigeration systems by selecting the appropriate refrigerant and ensuring that all foreign matter is eliminated to provide optimum cooling capacity.
Troubleshoots and repairs refrigeration-related electrical components.
May service and maintain centrifugal and absorption chillers by removing and replacing motors, adjusting and inspecting motor coolants, replacing tube bundles and performing electrical repairs.
Completes required after-hours on-call rotation.
