About The Position

Amentum is seeking an AC Mechanic Helper for a position on Kauai, HI. Under the general direction of a Supervisor or Lead-person, the Mechanic performs a variety of sub-professional duties and work related to the operation, maintenance, fabrication and alteration of facilities and equipment in the air conditioning and refrigeration trade field at a semi-skilled level.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years apprenticeship or equivalent work experience may be substituted for formal schooling.
  • Must be able to obtain an EPA Universal Certification.
  • Possess a Hawaii State Driver’s License.
  • Must have ability to obtain appropriate State and Government licenses to operate stake trucks and forklifts.
  • Must be capable for performing these functions in accordance with federal regulation section 608 of the Clean Air Act.
  • Capable of acquiring the skill and knowledge of proper and safe use of tools and equipment associated with the trade.
  • Demonstrate ability to comprehend and follow instructions at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Applicants selected either must currently possess a Secret clearance or will be subject to a US Government Security Investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain clearance prior to commencement of employment and maintain a security clearance for access to classified information or Closed/Restricted Areas throughout duration of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Work alone or as a team and complete work assignments from verbal instructions, written work orders, drawings, schematics, sketches and blue prints while complying with federal, state and local codes and PMRF/Manu Kai procedures and safety, fire and health requirements.
  • Acquire the skill to troubleshoot and repair various types of HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Acquire the skill to solder, braze, use recovery and recycling equipment, multi-meters and adjust mechanical, pneumatic and electronic controls.
  • Acquire the skill to repair, modify and install air supply and return ducting.
  • Acquire the skill to recover and recycle refrigerant in accordance with federal regulations.
  • Solder, braze, use recovery and recycle equipment, adjust mechanical, pneumatic and electronic controls.
  • Repair, modify and install air ducts.
  • Complete timecard, submitting completed work order documents with comments for any follow up work when applicable.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with customers and fellow workers.
