About The Position

As a Referral Specialist at Quincy Medical Group, you will play a key role in helping patients access the care they need. You’ll be responsible for coordinating referrals to specialists and other facilities, ensuring timely and accurate processing, and working closely with providers, patients, and insurance companies. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a patient-first mindset. You will also be responsible for obtaining pre-certifications, verifying insurance benefits, and supporting the business office in resolving retroactive service reviews.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • 6–12 months of related experience or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming and outgoing referrals and maintain accurate records of referral forms.
  • Obtain pre-certifications for procedures, surgeries, admissions, and specialty medications.
  • Verify insurance benefits and communicate medical necessity details with insurance carriers.
  • Coordinate with providers’ offices and external facilities to ensure timely and accurate scheduling.
  • Provide follow-up information to insurance companies as needed for approved services.
  • Assist the business office with retroactive reviews for denied services or referrals.
  • Correct errors and update documentation as needed.
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation in the electronic health record system.
  • Collaborate with team members to support seamless patient care.
