The Referral Representative I is responsible for handling all internal and external customer contact regarding Referral Testing. This role involves receiving, resolving, and following up with complex customer issues, and acting as a liaison between internal and external customers and Referral vendors. The position requires retrieving, sorting, and processing specimens for shipment to referral laboratories, ensuring sample quality and accuracy, and preparing specimens and packages for shipment according to IATA regulations. Additionally, the role involves handling customer inquiries regarding reporting of results, service failures, and other quality issues to ensure customer satisfaction, reporting laboratory results, and contacting clients to resolve matters related to patient testing and result reporting. The Referral Representative I will also perform investigations and provide resolutions for complex Referral Testing issues, research test availability, assist Client Services, Customers, and Sales, communicate tests not performed (TNPs) and lab accidents to clients within 24 hours, document thoroughly, and escalate issues of concern to supervisors. Maintaining a safe, functional, and sanitary work area and adhering to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements are also key responsibilities. This role requires the use of personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and/or work practice controls as directed by management. Other duties as assigned may be part of the role, but this description provides a general overview of the work performed.
