The Referral Intake Review Nurse (RN) is responsible for real‑time monitoring, review, and screening of all incoming faxed referrals to ensure timely response, accurate documentation, and seamless coordination with Intake RNs and the Call Center. This role supports census stability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency by ensuring referrals are processed promptly and consistently. All clinical assessments and admission decisions are completed by the Mobile Assessor RN or Intake RN and communicated to the physician on call prior to admission, decline, or transfer for medical clearance. This role does not perform clinical Intake functions such as walk ins, triage, assessments, directs, crisis intervention, or obtaining admission orders. The schedule will cover shifts for planned vacations and unexpected callouts. When fax volume is low, secondary responsibilities include reconciling AIS and Concord entries for accuracy and completeness, auditing referral logs for pending or incomplete items, following up on pending referrals requiring clarification or additional information, preparing shift‑to‑shift handoff notes summarizing referral activity, and verifying referral outcomes and ensuring documentation is closed appropriately. These tasks support the referral workflow without pulling the nurse into clinical Intake duties.
