About The Position

Pines Health Services is seeking a Referral Coordinator to join their team at the Caribou Health Center. This full-time, non-exempt position requires a strong commitment to patient support, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. While previous healthcare experience is preferred, training is available for the right candidate. LPNs and Medical Assistants with clinical experience are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• High school or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Computer-proficient.
• Communicates clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Listens attentively.
• Solves problems effectively.
• Can prioritize tasks while working both independently and professionally.
• Availability Monday through Friday.
• Occasional overtime as authorized.

Nice To Haves

• Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
• Strong clinical experience in healthcare.
• LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses) and Medical Assistants with hands-on clinical practice are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all patient-physician referrals and Radiology tests requiring appointments/Insurance authorizations and notifies patients of appointment dates.
• Processes all insurance referrals for most providers at Pines Health Services.
• Processes insurance appeals.
• Receives all phone calls regarding patient referrals in a courteous, accurate, and friendly manner.
• Completes paperwork for physician approval.
• Mails, faxes, and electronically sends appropriate paperwork to the referring physician’s office.
• Mails, faxes, transmits, or calls in referrals to the insurance company.
• Ensures all testing requisitions are faxed to the appropriate testing facility.
• Maintains appropriate physician and insurance log for each carrier.
• Maintains pending results and follow-up.
• May be required to fill in for or assist other staff members.
• Photocopies and scans as required.
• Participates in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
