About The Position

Pines Health Services is seeking a Referral Coordinator to join their team at the Caribou Health Center. This role is crucial for managing patient referrals and ensuring smooth coordination of care. The ideal candidate will be computer-proficient, possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently and professionally. While previous healthcare experience is preferred, Pines Health Services is willing to train the right individual. LPNs and Medical Assistants with clinical experience are encouraged to apply, with preference given to those with strong clinical backgrounds.

Requirements

• High school or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Computer-proficient.
• Communicates clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Listens attentively.
• Solves problems effectively.
• Can prioritize tasks while working both independently and professionally.
• Availability Monday through Friday work schedule; occasional overtime as authorized.

Nice To Haves

• Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
• Strong clinical experience in healthcare.
• LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses) and Medical Assistants with hands-on clinical practice are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all patient-physician referrals and most Radiology tests that require appointments/Insurance authorizations and notifies patients of the appointment dates.
• Processes all insurance referrals for most providers at Pines Health Services.
• Processes insurance appeals.
• Receives all phone calls regarding patient referrals in a courteous, accurate, and friendly manner.
• Completes paperwork for physician approval.
• Mail, fax, and electronically send appropriate paperwork to the referring physician’s office.
• Mail, fax, transmit, or call in referrals to the insurance company.
• Ensure all testing requisitions are faxed to the appropriate testing facility.
• Maintains appropriate physician and insurance log for each carrier.
• Maintains pending results and follow-up.
• May be required to fill in for or assist other staff members; therefore, must be familiar with the basic duties of their job.
• Photocopies and scans as required.
• Participates in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.
