About The Position
Emerald Coast Infectious Diseases / American Medical Group is a well-established and respected provider of high-quality healthcare services in the Florida Panhandle. We specialize in Infectious Diseases, Podiatry, Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology and Gastroenterology, with more specialties being added to the growing group. We are committed to improving the lives of our patients through compassionate care and clinical excellence. We are currently seeking a Part Time Medical Referral Coordinator to join our team and help facilitate smooth and efficient referrals from specialists and external services. The position can have a flexible schedule, Monday-Friday, between 24-30hrs/wk
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting, preferably in referrals or patient coordination.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and authorization procedures.
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, RXNT, eClinicalWorks).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and process all incoming medical referrals from providers, diagnostic services, and facilities.
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
- Schedule appointments and follow up with patients regarding referral status.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, patients, and external offices on the status of the referred patient. This includes sending “Thank You” letters to referring providers.
- Ensure referrals are completed in a timely manner and meet compliance standards.
- Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Sending our Physician’s consultation notes to the referring providers.
