Referral Coordinator
About The Position
Abrazo Biltmore Terrace is seeking a Referral Coordinator, a non-exempt medical office position responsible for managing all referrals for the medical offices in the market. This role involves adhering to the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources, as well as the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement. The position also requires demonstrating support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by understanding compliance responsibilities, adhering to relevant laws and policies, and reporting compliance issues promptly.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- One year direct patient experience in a medical insurance or healthcare related industry
Responsibilities
- Process patient referrals for the practices in the market
- Facilitates orders outside to outside facilities
- Coordinate scheduling of office visits for the referred patient
- Assist patient with finding resources that accept the various insurances
- Obtains pre-authorization from payers
- Calls insurance companies to get medications approved that may have been denied due to formulary changes
- Logs in daily to system to check status of patient not mapped correctly and updates patient charts
- Set up referring providers, payers and chart mergers in the Electronic System
