About The Position

We are looking for a dependable, organized, and compassionate Referral Coordinator / Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team in Blackshear, GA. This is a dual-role position that combines referral coordination and administrative responsibilities with hands-on clinical support. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with patients, communicates well with providers and outside offices, and can confidently transition between front-office and clinical responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in a medical office preferred.
  • Customer service skills
  • Oral and Written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Data entry skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Previous experience in a primary care or medical office setting preferred
  • Experience with referrals, insurance authorizations, or specialty scheduling is a plus
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers
  • Process and track referrals to ensure patients receive timely care
  • Obtain and verify required referral information and documentation
  • Communicate with insurance companies and specialty offices regarding referrals and authorizations
  • Follow up on pending referrals and authorizations
  • Communicate referral information and appointment details to patients
  • Maintain accurate referral records and documentation
  • Work closely with providers and clinical staff to ensure referrals are completed appropriately
  • Assist with obtaining medical records, reports, and other information from outside providers
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and other patient information
  • Assist providers with examinations and in-office procedures
  • Perform clinical tasks within the scope of training and applicable regulations
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms and clinical supplies
  • Assist with medication and procedure documentation
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens as needed
  • Administer injections and medications as directed and within scope
  • Enter and update patient information in the electronic medical record
  • Assist with patient follow-up and provider instructions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment
