About The Position

Gastroenterology Health Partners is seeking a full-time Referral Coordinator for their clinic. This role is ideal for individuals with medical office experience, an understanding of medical terminology, and a passion for assisting patients with their healthcare navigation. Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Previous medical office experience preferred.
Medical terminology coursework preferred.
Formal training with at least one (1) year experience as a medical assistant, medical secretary, health unit coordinator, nursing assistant, or similar role.
Alternatively, at least two (2) years of experience involving patient care, with demonstrated familiarity with medication names and purpose, a thorough understanding of basic medical terminology, basic knowledge of common diagnoses and surgeries, and patient health interviewing skills.

Responsibilities

Receive all referrals from outside referring physicians and review them for appropriate direction.
Schedule all clinic referrals by contacting patients and setting up appointments.
Contact referring offices for additional information when necessary.
Communicate with referring physician offices regarding patient scheduling status or if a patient cannot be scheduled.
Interact with clinic staff and the OA department for urgent appointments when no openings are available.
Ensure patients are scheduled with the appropriate provider.
