This position serves as a Referral Coordinator PT, working 20 hours a week. The role involves acting as the first escalation point for calls and service recovery, and is responsible for scheduling appointments from Epic work queues that were not completed during the checkout process. The primary duty is to schedule patient appointments in a courteous manner, while also planning, organizing, and prioritizing workflow in conjunction with physicians, marketing initiatives, and organizational objectives. This includes coordinating appointments for UH specialists, programs, and diagnostic testing within appropriate timeframes and with the correct providers. The role requires verifying and inputting insurance and patient information, partnering with clinical Navigators for first call resolution, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of computer systems, regulations, and policies. Additionally, the Referral Coordinator will provide Good Faith Estimates, validate insurance coverage, educate patients on third-party coverage, and encourage the use of My UH Care Personal Health Record. Responsibilities extend to scheduling appointments for post-in-patients and patients discharged from UH facilities, reaching out to non-UH providers, and providing real-time support for team needs and escalations. The role emphasizes enforcing approved tools and resources, adhering to standard operating procedures, encouraging critical thinking, and serving as a team advocate for system and process improvement. The Referral Coordinator will investigate process gaps, ensure transaction accuracy, and participate in community marketing to increase referrals. They will also ensure department productivity standards are met and manage calls to provide appropriate resolutions. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies, and safely maintaining Protected Health Information (PHI).
