About The Position

The Clinical Referral Coordinator works as both a Medical Assistant and provides administrative support to our medical teams. General duties include Medical Assisting, patient communication (by fax, telephone, and/or computer), referral processing, insurance verification, and information gathering to support our patients. Our referrals team is the liaison between our patients and any outside services that their provider refers to including many types of specialty care. By facilitating the referral process our Clinical Referral Coordinators help patients access care they need by working with local specialty offices and clinics to ensure the needed information is provided so patients can make appointments and get the care they need. This position is full-time and located primarily at our White Salmon, WA clinic location.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program
  • At least one (1) year of experience working as an MA in a clinic or hospital setting
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification in accordance with OCH Policy
  • Minimum two (2) years of clerical, reception, administrative or secretarial experience in a medical/dental setting or healthcare insurance organization, or high-volume office environment; or A combination of equivalent education and work experience
  • Knowledge of and comply with HIPAA and privacy laws
  • Proficient computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook, Epic EHR, and EPM Systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Able to work with high initiative, energy and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment reacting and remaining calm and effective in high pressure and emergency situations
  • Able to work in a team environment, to work independently, and/or be self-directed.
  • Be a positive and effective team player while being patient centered
  • Specific knowledge in customer service and workplace safety
  • Able and willing to work in a dynamic and changing community health care environment
  • Able to prioritize and organize work according to multiple and, at times, competing timelines
  • Able to meet timelines for team and organizational goals safely and with high level of quality
  • Successful relationship management skills involving multidisciplinary teams in a diverse, multicultural environment
  • Travel between clinic locations, as needed
