About The Position

The Reference Librarian is a part-time position within the University Library, reporting to the Associate Librarian. This role is primarily responsible for providing reference services, conducting library instruction, engaging in collection development, producing library materials, and assisting with various library-related projects. The position involves maintaining electronic journal subscriptions, performing statistical analysis of library usage, and offering scheduled reference and instruction hours. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Requirements

• MLS from an ALA accredited program or enrolled in an accredited MLS program
• Library research techniques
• Knowledge of library organization principles
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of current reference and instruction tools
• Supervisory skills
• Knowledge of personal computers and electronic resources

Responsibilities

• Provide reference services and information about the library's collections, services, and policies
• Conduct library instruction sessions
• Assist in statistical analysis of library usage
• Collection Development
• General circulation operations
• Produce library promotional and instructional material
• Supporting library staff in such services as reciprocal borrowing, acquisitions, and cataloging
• Supervising student workers
• Other library-related duties as assigned
