About The Position

The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is seeking a Public Service Administrator to serve in our Reentry Unit. This position would be an excellent fit for someone with leadership experience and a passion for continuing to grow and improve linkage and facilitation of transitional housing and re-entry opportunities for individuals releasing from IDOC Custody. If you have strong communication skills and are motivated to lead a team that works with the community and with IDOC facility staff to assist individuals transition from a correctional setting to community housing and supportive services, then this position will give you the opportunity to promote successful re-entry. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in social science, behavioral science, penology, law enforcement or a related field.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in corrections or public administration.
  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
  • Requires the ability to carry and use a state issued laptop.
  • Requires the ability to carry and use a state issued cell phone.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers at least four (4) years of work experience within a criminal justice setting.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience implementing large scale initiatives and/or programs related to reentry services.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of collaborative work with community service providers and/or assisting individuals with linkage to resources with a re-entry population.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of case management experience with a focus on re-entry from a custodial setting to a community setting.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience with data collection and interpretation of data.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with contract monitoring.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience utilizing Microsoft Office or similar computer software.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience participating as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and monitors the functions of District IV & V, Programs and Support Services, Reentry Unit.
  • Establishes monthly reporting requirements and collects data on the services provided.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Certifies that all contractual special programs are monitored for quality of services.
  • Verifies that the District IV & V, Reentry Unit is meeting the objectives and is in compliance with the priorities established for the program.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
