Requirements

  • Experience in case management, corrections, behavioral health, or related human services fields.
  • Ability to work effectively with adults impacted by incarceration, mental health conditions, and/or substance use.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain security clearances as required by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP)
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in documentation, data entry, and maintaining case files.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse clients and community partners.
  • High School Diploma/GED

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Human Services, Education, Criminal Justice, or related field.
  • Two years of experience working with formerly incarcerated client population and/or persons who formerly received mental health and/or substance abuse treatment.
  • Knowledge of job analysis, local job market, assessment tools, social service organizations, and job seeking skills

Responsibilities

  • Conducts resident readiness orientations that assist residents in identifying vocational aptitudes, to develop career plan for each new client.
  • Facilitate curriculum in a classroom setting in a matter that fosters growth and learning and engages participants for the purpose of self-awareness, job readiness, and career progression.
  • Assists clients with long-terms employment goals, recording their work history, strengths, personal culture, justice involvement, and other factors that relate to current vocational goal.
  • Facilitate regular groups on financial education and budgeting practices.
  • Monitors local area employment trends and workforce development reports.
  • Develops a “Second Chance” employer database.
  • Facilitates transportation for residents to outside activities in accordance with program policies and contract stipulations.
  • Attends all trainings professional development opportunities as directed.
  • Participate in and host community, hiring, and outreach events to strengthen program visibility and client access to resources.
  • Disseminates job openings and pro-social opportunities to residents to support engagement and reentry success.
  • Evaluates program for effectiveness through formative and informative assessments.
  • Assess, design, develop, implement and evaluate new and current programs including the use of best, promising and evidence based practices.
  • Maintains up-to-date resident employment tracking database.
  • Completes employer notification prior to residents starting work.
  • Completes monthly employer check ins on resident employment progress.
