About The Position

Join the Nebraska Department of Labor in connecting individuals to employment success as a Reemployment Coordinator. You will help create opportunities for fellow Nebraskans by supporting Career Center services, assisting job seekers, working with employers, and coordinating with community partners. We are looking for an individual who has a strong desire to help others, enjoys daily variety, and can provide professional customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Post high school coursework or training in social/behavioral sciences, counseling, business, public administration, education, marketing or a related field; or experience in client development and case management including interviewing, research and direct customer service.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
  • Knowledge of: State and federal employment security laws; vocational counseling or career guidance; case management interviewing procedures and techniques; methods for showing and promoting agency services; typical office computer systems; Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Skill in: public speaking or communicating with an audience; presenting information clearly using various media in front of an audience; assessing customer needs; database entry.
  • Ability to: plan and organize work; communicate to disseminate information to a diverse group of people; actively listen to others; follow instructions; interact with clients, employers and the public; administer tests and measurements; maintain accurate documentation; conduct evaluations; use the Dictionary of Occupational Titles to code applications and job orders; create presentations; learn and apply agency rules, policies and procedures; adapt to changing business trends and needs; establish and maintain relationships; maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, behavioral science, business administration, communication, education, marketing or related field.
  • Spanish/English bilingual language skills desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and promote Career Center services to job seekers, employers, community partners, and the public.
  • Provide job search assistance, preparation, and vocational guidance to applicants, and assist employers with filling vacant positions.
  • Support Career Center outreach and service promotion by coordinating with employers, community partners, and internal NDOL programs as appropriate.
  • Utilize technology and labor market information to provide needed data and support employment-related services.
  • Market Career Center services to the community and employers.
  • Contact, schedule, and conduct employer visits to explain staff-assisted and self-service options available through NDOL and NEworks.
  • Plan, implement, and present workshops relevant to job seeker and employer needs.
  • Present information at schools, job fairs, hiring events, community meetings, and other outreach activities to promote workforce development services.
  • Screen applicants for appropriate services and provide referrals to partner programs when applicable.
  • Use vocational guidance tools to assist job seekers with career services and employment planning.
  • Perform case management and provide job seeker assistance, including employment assessments, job search guidance, referrals, follow-up, and documentation of services provided.
  • Research and provide referrals to appropriate employment, training, partner, and reemployment services, including Reemployment Services, WOTC, Rapid Response, Veterans services, WIOA partner services, and TAA, as applicable.
  • Perform Employment Services career services, including client registration, eligibility review, assessments, employment statistics information, and service documentation.
  • Perform job search and job matching activities for employers and applicants, including registration, job referrals, job development, and follow-up.
  • Receive and verify job orders from employers and enter information into appropriate computer systems as needed.
  • Match qualified applicants to employer job orders.
  • Conduct presentations and perform outreach activities through participation in advisory boards, committees, community organizations, hiring events, and other workforce-related activities.
  • Perform data entry and retrieval activities for various programs as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow agency policies, procedures, and required program guidelines.
