About The Position

The Reefer Technician keeps customers’ transport refrigeration equipment operating safely and efficiently. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing refrigeration systems in a fast-paced dealership environment, along with documenting service work and supporting dealership objectives. The position is based in North Haven, Connecticut, and is full-time, with a listed pay range of $25 to $35 per hour based on experience. The technician works on truck and trailer refrigeration units, V-series units, gensets, APUs, and buses. Work includes diagnosing component failures, repairing refrigerant leaks, replacing and testing components, performing preventive maintenance, and installing new Thermo King units. Requirements

At least 2 years of experience diagnosing and repairing Thermo King, Carrier, APUs, gensets, and V-series units.
Skill in using diagnostic tools, scanners, and multimeters.
Knowledge of refrigerant systems, leak detection, soldering, and refrigeration component replacement.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance and installations and maintain accurate repair documentation.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in shop and outdoor conditions.
Basic computer literacy for diagnostics and repair logging.

Nice To Haves

EPA 608/609 certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair components of truck, trailer, V-series refrigeration units, gensets, and APUs.
Identify and repair failures, including removing, replacing, and testing components using a multimeter.
Address refrigerant leaks by assembling and installing parts, soldering, and using specialized refrigeration equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, and service of refrigeration equipment.
Maintain transport refrigeration systems on trucks, trailers, APUs, V-series units, gensets, and buses using scanners, electronic test equipment, and onboard computers for diagnostics.
Install new Thermo King units on trailers, trucks, V-series units, and APUs as required.
Maintain accurate service records by reviewing shop orders and preparing estimates.
Document details of repairs needed or completed.
Perform other duties and functions as directed by management to support dealership objectives.
