About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Reefer Mechanic to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on refrigerated trailers and reefer units. This hands-on position requires strong refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining equipment to a high standard. Experience with Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration units is strongly preferred. Compensation is $25.00–$55.00 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and technical skill level.
Requirements
- Previous experience repairing refrigerated trailers, reefer units, or similar refrigeration equipment.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration troubleshooting skills.
- EPA certification required.
- Section 608 refrigerant certification required.
- AC repair certification required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required OEM certifications in Basic Refrigeration, Electrical, and Welding/Soldering.
- Ability to read and understand service manuals, technical bulletins, repair procedures, and written instructions.
- Must provide own basic hand tools.
- Ability to work various shifts as required.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of Thermo King and/or Carrier refrigeration units is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refrigerated trailer systems and equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on trailers and reefer units.
- Diagnose and repair refrigeration system leaks.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical components and systems.
- Diagnose and repair fuel system issues and oil leaks.
- Perform mid-level diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify mechanical, refrigeration, and electrical failures.
- Build, rebuild, repair, and replace trailer components as required.
- Use service manuals, technical bulletins, diagnostic equipment, and manufacturer information to complete repairs.
- Use hand tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic tools safely and effectively.
- Operate a forklift when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
