About The Position

Transport Refrigeration, Inc. (TRI), a Thermo King dealer in Madison, Wisconsin, is hiring an experienced Reefer Technician / Transport Refrigeration Technician to diagnose, service, and repair Thermo King transport refrigeration systems. The role supports refrigerated transportation by maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment on trucks and trailers, along with related systems such as APUs, diesel-powered heaters, and truck cab A/C and HVAC systems. This is a full-time, first-shift position with a Monday–Friday schedule. Available first-shift schedules may vary. Technicians participate in an on-call rotation after training and perform road service calls. The stated salary range is $55,000–$100,000 per year, based on experience. Requirements

Previous experience servicing or diagnosing transport refrigeration systems.
Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent technical experience.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain and maintain required technician tools and a toolbox.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Professional, dependable, and safety-focused approach.
Willingness to continue developing technical skills and certifications.
Willingness to work overtime when needed.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Thermo King equipment is preferred; comparable reefer experience is welcome.
Experience with diesel engines is a plus.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Thermo King transport refrigeration units.
Perform preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs on refrigeration systems.
Identify electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-system issues.
Service and repair APUs and diesel-powered heaters.
Diagnose and repair truck cab A/C and HVAC systems.
Complete repairs safely and accurately while maintaining service documentation.
Participate in an on-call rotation after training and perform road service calls.
Use OEM diagnostic software, test equipment, shop tools, hoists, and other service equipment.
Complete repairs within standard repair times while maintaining quality and safety.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service environment.
