About The Position

The Reefer Mechanic Technician is responsible for providing a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment. This role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing all required repairs on diesel reefer equipment, including THERMO KING & CARRIER TRAILER REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS and Reefer Microprocessors. The technician will also perform preventative maintenance according to manufacturer standards, mentor other maintenance shop personnel, and handle road calls, assigning third-party vendors when necessary. Utilizing a fleet maintenance software system tablet is required for documenting repairs and parts used. The position also emphasizes maintaining a clean and safe work environment in compliance with all relevant regulations and a willingness to assume increased responsibility and certifications.

Requirements

  • 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a Fleet Reefer/Refrigeration technician.
  • TK/Carrier Refrigeration Certifications.
  • Must be willing to travel and attend training provided by US Foods.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to reefer equipment repairs.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and online service manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • EPA 608 (Type 2 or Universal) & EPA 609 Certifications.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA & DOT regulations as pertaining to the shop and fleet.
  • Computer and software experience/ Noregon Diag Equip/A/C Recovery, Etc.
  • Able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment.
  • Welding ability.
  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel reefer equipment (THERMO KING & CARRIER TRAILER REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS, Reefer Microprocessors, etc.).
  • Perform preventative maintenance within manufacturer standards.
  • Mentor other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Receive road calls, assign third party vendor, and work with business partners on plan of action.
  • Utilize fleet maintenance software system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
