About The Position

Parsons is looking for an experienced Red Seal Industrial Electrician (CBA - Skilled Trades Ticketed) to install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related equipment. This role involves reading and interpreting technical drawings, performing routine preventative maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems. The position is open to local candidates or those available on a fly-in/fly-out rotational basis, working two weeks on and two weeks off with 12-hour shifts. The role includes paid travel, housing accommodations, and a Living Out Allowance (LOA), with employees responsible for their own food. This position is part of the Critical Infrastructure team and is a unionized role governed by the Faro Union Collective Bargaining Agreement, requiring union membership and dues.

Requirements

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electrical license.
  • Experience working with electrical systems in a large industrial facility.
  • 3+ years of domestic/commercial/industrial electrical experience.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25kg, pull, stand, or crouch for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid Mine Rescue Certificate (surface) compatible with Yukon OHS Mine Rescue Standard (OHS, 2016) and approved by Yukon WCB, or willingness and ability to undergo training to obtain such.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all electrical systems and components.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Locate and diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, service, and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical controls.
  • Work includes equipment or components directly or indirectly exposed to electrical power, such as motors, generators, pumps, and lighting systems.
  • Install, maintain, or repair equipment for generating, distributing, or utilizing electric energy.
  • Maintain compliance with site EHS requirements, promptly report any incidents, and complete all required training.
  • Install or repair various electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
  • Perform standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
  • Use various electricians' hand tools, measuring, and testing instruments.
  • Perform work according to site maintenance procedures.
  • Provide input to create or revise procedures.
  • Assist other crafts as needed.
  • Work in plant, office, or shop environments.
  • Work with supervisor and supply chain specialist to ensure inventory and parts are in stock, or a purchase order request has been written.
  • Communicate closely with operations throughout the repair process.
  • Work safely and participate in site safety programs.
  • Participate in site continuous improvement programs.
