About The Position

Everforth ECS is seeking a Red Hat OpenShift Engineer to support the development, integration, operation, and sustainment of artificial intelligence and cloud solutions for a Department of Defense customer. The engineer will join an integrated cloud and infrastructure team supporting Red Hat OpenShift environments across AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, classified cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure. The role covers platform operations, application onboarding, security compliance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and sustainment across multiple environments and classification levels. This is an execution-focused engineering role for someone with practical OpenShift and Kubernetes experience who can independently perform established engineering and operational tasks, collaborate with senior engineers and OpenShift subject matter experts on complex architecture and migrations, and escalate challenging technical issues as appropriate. The position is hybrid/onsite, supporting the Fairfax, Virginia corporate office and/or the Springfield, Virginia customer site. The candidate must be able to work in a SCIF and other Government locations as mission requirements dictate. Onsite support may be required up to four days per week, with additional support for critical deployments or operational issues.

  • At least 2 years of direct, hands-on experience supporting Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift environments.
  • Experience administering Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes environments, including workload deployment, configuration, upgrades and patching, troubleshooting, networking, storage, security, and monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes resources, including pods, deployments, services, namespaces/projects, ConfigMaps, persistent volumes, ingress/routes, resource management, and RBAC.
  • Linux administration experience, preferably with RHEL and/or Red Hat CoreOS.

  • Working knowledge of container images, registries, runtime fundamentals, and Docker, Podman, or comparable tooling.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows and familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps concepts.
  • Working knowledge of automation and infrastructure-as-code concepts using Ansible, Terraform, Helm, scripting, GitOps, or comparable tooling.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls, security groups, certificates/TLS, and Kubernetes/OpenShift networking.
  • Understanding of least privilege, RBAC, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and logging/monitoring.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and troubleshooting documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, customer-service, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently execute assigned engineering and operational tasks and recognize when complex issues require escalation.
  • Must meet applicable DoD cybersecurity workforce qualification requirements for the position, such as DoD 8570-01M certification at IAM Level 1 or better.
  • Ability to support work in a SCIF and other Government locations as mission requirements dictate.
