About The Position

Under limited supervision, this part-time position oversees the day-to-day operation of recycling centers and the collection of recyclables at various County offices and the County jail. The role involves working in special recycling and Support Services Department projects during all seasons and weather conditions.

Requirements

Equivalent of a high school diploma.
One (1) year of work experience in a direct customer service position.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to drive and maneuver a box truck and a pickup truck with a utility trailer.
Must complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) prior to operating a County-owned vehicle.

Responsibilities

Opens and closes the recycling facility as scheduled.
Provides professional and courteous service to the public.
Ensures materials are placed in the proper container.
Schedules requests for container swaps.
Maintains and cleans the office, grounds, bins, and equipment in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Operates a box truck with a lift gate and a pickup truck with a utility trailer for recyclables collection.
Maintains collection containers in designated areas.
Follows a time-sensitive schedule for recyclables collection.
Ensures routine vehicle maintenance and cleaning are performed.
Facilitates promotional and educational opportunities through events like the County Fair, schools, recreation centers, and civic organizations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
