About The Position

Safely operate the recycling system by following all corporate guidelines. Supervise the sorting staff in the facility ensuring proper staff counts are available to maintain guidelines for material quality. Communicate effectively with plant supervisor and System Leads on material changes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Forklift certification required, or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong initiative with the ability to manage floor operations independently with minimal supervision.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with staff and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate facility machinery.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 60 lbs in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located is required.

Nice To Haves

  • post-secondary is an asset
  • Prior experience as an acting supervisor, step-up lead, or senior line worker preferred.
  • Previous experience operating recycling machinery strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform primary sorting duties directly on the line to lead by example and maintain workflow.
  • Safely start, stop, operate, and adjust recycling machinery throughout shift operations.
  • Ensure all sorting staff strictly follow company guidelines for material separation and quality standards.
  • Keep management informed of material changes, line flow variations, and any personnel matters on the floor.
  • Step in to manage daily floor operations, workflow, and team assignments whenever the Supervisor is unavailable or off-site.
  • Serve as the primary leader for operational inquiries, emergency protocol decisions, and shift escalation issues.
  • Complete accurate end-of-shift reports, verify timekeeping, and track production metrics during coverage periods.
  • Confirm adequate sorter coverage prior to shift start times to maintain quality and throughput.
  • Train new material sorters, continuously evaluate team productivity, and request staffing adjustments as needed.
  • Drive a safety-first culture by enforcing all policies outlined in the company’s safety program.
  • Strictly adhere to and enforce Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ensure all floor staff properly sign out and consistently wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
