About The Position
The Cowichan Valley Regional District is seeking a casual Recycling Facility Attendant I to join their Solid Waste Operations team. This role contributes to the effective operation of CVRD Recycling facilities by assisting the public with waste and recyclables, performing maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and convenient environment, and providing support to other facility staff. The position reports to the Manager, Solid Waste Operations and may be supervised by the Recycling Facility Leader V or Recycling Facility Attendant IV.
Requirements
- Secondary School graduation or equivalency
- Keyboarding and basic office equipment training
- A minimum of one year of experience working in an industrial workplace including around traffic and industrial equipment
- Experience in customer relations and conflict management
- Experience with data entry and computer systems
- Demonstrated Skid Steer operation experience
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
- Basic First Aid Certificate
Nice To Haves
- Skid Steer Operator Safety Training certificate from a qualified instructor
- Traffic Control Persons training
- WHMIS
Responsibilities
- Assisting the public in depositing their waste and recyclables in the appropriate area(s)
- Performing tasks to ensure materials and the overall facility are well maintained
- Providing relief support to other facility team staff
