About The Position

LSI's dynamic and experienced Foster Care and Adoption team is looking for a compassionate, dedicated Occasional Recruitment & Retention Specialist to make an impact in the lives of Iowa children and families. This is a remote position, providing outreach to our Northern Iowa service (serving clients surrounding the Mason City and Fort Dodge areas in collaboration with Four Oaks). As one of Iowa's most trusted human services agencies, LSI has a legacy of serving children and families for more than 150 years. Our Foster Care and Adoption services empower families and keep kids safe by recruiting, licensing, and supporting foster and adoptive parents in more than 30 western Iowa counties. You can make a direct impact on the lives of the children and families we are privileged to serve.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of two years experience in child welfare services
  • Valid driver's license
  • Auto insurance
  • Good driving record
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, the Sex Offender registry, and the criminal history check
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Skills, energy, and desire to reach out and collaborate with numerous entities like media, faith communities, and families to increase the number of quality licensed foster and approved adoptive homes.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, human resource management or a related field
  • Experience with customer service
  • Experience with recruitment

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment of quality foster and adoptive families in western Iowa, ensuring families reflect the race, ethnicity, and culture of the children coming into care.
  • Retention of families through a mentor program for foster parents.
  • Collaboration with LSI's Marketing and Community Engagement team, as well as Four Oak's Marketing and Community Engagement team.
  • Engaging current foster or adoptive families to assist with family-to-family recruitment.
  • Raising awareness about the need for more foster and adoptive families in Iowa.
