About The Position

The Assistant Director contributes to the overall operations of the Office of Enrollment Services and works collaboratively across campus to plan and execute major recruitment events, including Preview Days (ENMU Open House). This role also coordinates individual and group campus tours that align with institutional goals and support a smooth transition for incoming students. In addition, the Assistant Director provides leadership and strategic direction for student recruitment initiatives by overseeing the President’s Ambassadors program and related outreach efforts. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating student ambassadors, with a focus on professional development and maintaining high standards of performance. As a key representative of Eastern New Mexico University, the Assistant Director engages prospective students and their families through a variety of recruitment and outreach activities. These include college fairs, high school visits, transfer institution outreach, community events, expos, festivals, special projects, and official University functions, both on and off campus. The position is responsible for conducting individual and group informational sessions, managing an assigned recruitment territory, and coordinating and supporting the daily operations of recruitment. This includes administrative responsibilities and personnel-related functions. The primary goal of the role is to recruit prospective students, provide guidance on educational opportunities at ENMU, and support students and their families throughout the admissions and transition process. The role requires regular travel throughout the recruitment cycle, with peak travel periods occurring from September through November and February through May. During the summer, the Assistant Director supports the Advising Center by assisting with first-year registration for first-time-in-college students.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of experience in education, customer service, recruitment, marketing, or related professional fields
  • Valid New Mexico Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and road conditions

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary recruiter for assigned territory of high school target markets
  • Maintain knowledge of all ENMU undergraduate programs and the programs of competing institutions.
  • Work collaboratively with the recruitment team for the development of structures and processes necessary to collect and analyze marketing and enrollment data to support decision making and guide strategy development.
  • Conduct targeted outreach using Enrollment Services CRM, third-party data sources, and analytics tools to implement and execute strategic territory management plans.
  • Accountable for filling, developing, and effectively executing a forward-looking calendar of travel activities on a continuous, rolling basis (at least 1-2 months ahead).
  • Represent ENMU at events—both in and out of state (nights and weekends)
  • Prepare and present recruiting presentations, individual and group info sessions, and campus tours.
  • Contact and correspond with prospective students, parents and high school counselors to promote ENMU and follow up on applications.
  • Coordinate recruitment events such as social gatherings and receptions.
  • Lead the hiring, onboarding, continuous training, staff development, supervision, and performance evaluation of the President’s Ambassadors (student recruiters).
  • Oversee and manage the tele recruiting program, including coordinating calling schedules, monitoring and analyzing call outcomes, and implementing incentive and engagement initiatives to improve effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with university partners to develop and execute integrated marketing and recruitment strategies aimed at attracting and enrolling first-year students.
  • Coordinate and support campus recruitment events, including Preview Days (ENMU Open House), individual and group campus tours, and additional recruitment-related projects as assigned.
  • Assist with the development and implementation, in conjunction with others at the university, integrated marketing plans and strategies to attract and enroll students at the university.
  • Utilizing the functionality of the Enrollment Services CRM and in collaboration with others, analyze and coordinate communication plan activities; establishing priorities and assisting in the development of certain written communications.
  • Assist with updates and maintenance of the Enrollment Services website, particularly content related to first-time in college students.
  • Participate in department-wide cross-training and support general admissions office functions.
  • Input, retrieve, and ensure accuracy of data related to online inquiries and prospect cards in the Enrollment Services CRM.
  • Maintain up-to-date high school staff contact records and utilize Enrollment Services CRM to proactively manage all efforts and optimize activities.
  • Respond to faculty requests for recruitment-related information.
  • Serve on project teams that enhance internal processes and student recruitment initiatives.
  • Development and maintenance of the Enrollment Services web site
  • Perform other job-related duties and projects assigned in support of the University's mission, core values, and goals
