About The Position

The Recruitment Assistant supports CT State Housatonic's enrollment goals by serving as a primary point of contact for prospective students from inquiry through enrollment. The position provides guidance throughout the admissions process, conducts outreach activities, monitors student progress within the enrollment pipeline, and develops relationships with schools and community partners. The Recruitment Assistant serves a diverse student population, including dual enrollment students, traditional students, adult learners, veterans and military-affiliated students, and international students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriately related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in recruitment, admissions, enrollment services, student affairs, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Nice To Haves

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for recruitment activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized guidance and support to prospective students from inquiry through enrollment, including answering questions, explaining admissions procedures, and connecting students with appropriate campus resources.
  • Manage prospective student records, track student progress through the enrollment pipeline, maintain accurate documentation, and conduct timely follow-up communications to support application completion and enrollment.
  • Conduct recruitment and outreach activities through phone, email, text, virtual platforms, information sessions, presentations, and individual appointments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and represent CT State Housatonic at recruitment events, including high school visits, college fairs, adult education centers, employer outreach events, community programs, parent nights, open houses, enrollment events.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with high school counselors, adult education programs, workforce development organizations, employers, community agencies, and other external partners to support enrollment objectives.
  • Coordinate campus visits, tours, meetings, and recruitment activities for prospective students, families, school groups, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with Admissions staff, faculty, administrators, and enrollment services personnel to support recruitment initiatives, enrollment events, and student engagement programs, including Open House, Application Days, Admitted Student Days, and other enrollment-focused activities.
  • Utilize enrollment and recruitment data to assess outreach effectiveness, support strategic enrollment goals, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement while adhering to institutional policies and professional standards.
  • Support recruitment and enrollment goals for a diverse range of student populations, including dual enrollment students, traditional college-age students, adult learners, veterans and military-affiliated students, international students, and other prospective student groups.
  • Adhere to established recruitment schedules, institutional policies, and professional standards while representing CT State Housatonic in a positive, student-centered, and service-oriented manner.
