About The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Admissions & Records, the Recruiter is responsible for identifying, engaging, and assisting prospective students to guide them from initial inquiry through matriculation. The Recruiter provides comprehensive, accurate, and timely information to prospective students and their families, ensuring they understand all aspects of the enrollment process and available opportunities at Northeast State. They also serve as a primary point of contact for students, parents, high school counselors, and community stakeholders. In addition, the Recruiter leads or is heavily involved in the planning, coordination, and execution of recruitment events and presentations, often serving as the primary representative of the institution. This includes managing event logistics, coordinating interdepartmental participation, and ensuring an institutional presence. This position also utilizes Slate to maintain ongoing, strategic communication with prospects, track engagement activity, and support data-informed recruitment decisions. This Recruiter will serve both traditional and non-traditional student populations. Their primary territory will include areas within the five-county service region of Washington, Sullivan, Johnson, Unicoi, and Carter Counties, with occasional travel to Hawkins and Greene Counties.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in academic/student services, public relations, or sales
  • Valid driver’s license and/or other ability to travel locally and regionally to off-campus sites

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of higher education recruiting experience
  • One or more years of experience working with K-12 students or adult learners in a teaching, counseling, or recruiting setting
  • Experience utilizing a CRM in a higher education setting; experience with Slate is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a student success related field
  • Conversational ability or fluency in a language other than English

Responsibilities

  • Inform and assist prospective students about Northeast State, academic programs, admission requirements, costs, financial aid support, and all facets of attending Northeast State.
  • Coordinate high school visits and college/resource fairs, answer inquiries from prospective students, and maintain communication with interested students, parents, and high school counselors through email, in-person visits, and Slate communication channels.
  • Engage with both K-12 students and non-traditional student populations to increase college awareness and encourage post-secondary education.
  • Support and implement applicable aspects of Northeast State’s strategic enrollment plan, including, but not limited to, the enrollment of traditionally underserved or underrepresented populations.
  • Maintain continuous communication with prospective students utilizing a targeted communication plan through Slate.
  • Process recruiting and prospect paperwork; enter information into a computerized database; process correspondence using Slate.
  • Develop and implement presentations to promote the benefits of the College to various constituencies, utilizing traditional formats and new technologies.
  • Organize, maintain, and provide campus tours to prospective students, school groups, and other constituents to promote the College.
  • Support new student registration and orientation events.
  • Develop and implement campus recruitment events in collaboration with Academic Affairs, Workforce Solutions, Enrollment Management, and other campus offices.
  • Strengthen and build partnerships by visiting high schools, attending chamber of commerce meetings, and other community networking events.
  • Enhance recruitment efforts by becoming familiar with the comprehensive range of academic and student services offered at Northeast State.
  • Cross-train within the Student Services Division.
  • Operate within federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures, most notably admissions, financial aid, and records policies and procedures.
  • Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.
