Matrix HR is seeking a driven, bilingual Trade Recruiter to join our team remotely from the Halifax area. Requirements

  • Fluency in both English and French, written and spoken.
  • Previous recruitment experience in a staffing agency, employment agency, or high-volume recruitment environment.
  • Experience recruiting skilled trades, industrial, construction, marine, or technical professionals is strongly preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and interviewing skills.
  • Confidence speaking with candidates by phone, conducting outreach, and developing new talent pipelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple active roles, changing priorities, and time-sensitive client requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when reviewing candidate qualifications and documentation.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment while staying connected with a national team.
  • A practical, service-focused approach and genuine interest in helping tradespeople access meaningful opportunities.
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for skilled trades and industrial roles supporting high-profile projects in the Halifax region and surrounding area, from sourcing and screening through offer coordination, onboarding, and follow-up.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tradespeople, apprentices, and industry contacts throughout Atlantic Canada and beyond.
  • Source qualified candidates using job boards, referrals, social media, recruiting databases, and direct outreach.
  • Conduct phone and virtual interviews to assess experience, work eligibility, certifications, availability, mobility, and fit for project requirements.
  • Review resumes, trade qualifications, safety tickets, and onboarding documentation to support accurate candidate submissions.
  • Work closely with account managers, operations teams, and client contacts to understand current and upcoming workforce requirements.
  • Keep candidates informed throughout the recruitment process and deliver a respectful, responsive candidate experience.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records, activity notes, and recruitment pipelines in the applicant tracking system.
  • Support targeted recruitment campaigns for priority projects and hard-to-fill skilled trades roles.
  • Stay informed on labour-market activity, trade demand, and candidate availability in the Halifax and Atlantic Canada markets.
