We are seeking an energetic, organized, and people-focused Recruiter and HR Assistant to help us attract, hire, and onboard compassionate caregivers, nurses, and healthcare professionals as Journey Nursing Services continues to grow. The Recruiter and HR Assistant plays a key role in supporting the continued growth of Journey Nursing Services by developing strong candidate pipelines, coordinating the hiring process, and helping new employees successfully transition into the organization. This position combines recruiting, candidate engagement, onboarding, orientation support, workforce development, and operational collaboration. You will work closely with the People Operations Manager, clinical leadership, Scheduling, and other departments to ensure recruiting efforts align with current staffing needs and future growth.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum one year of recruiting, Human Resources, healthcare, customer service, or related experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable communicating frequently by telephone, email, and in person.
  • Ability to manage multiple candidates and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and general computer applications.
  • Ability to learn EHR, HRIS, applicant tracking, healthcare, and workforce management systems.
  • Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous professional caregiving experience.
  • Home Care, Home Health, Hospice, or Private Duty Nursing experience.
  • Current or previous CNA or HCA certification.
  • Experience with EHR and HRIS platforms.
  • Experience conducting employee orientation or training.
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Nurse Delegation certification.

Responsibilities

  • Support full-cycle recruitment for caregiving, nursing, clinical, and administrative positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers and operational leaders to understand current and anticipated staffing needs.
  • Create, update, and manage job advertisements across recruiting platforms.
  • Source qualified candidates through job boards, community partnerships, schools, workforce programs, hiring events and other recruiting channels.
  • Screen applicants and conduct initial candidate interviews.
  • Coordinate interviews with hiring managers and clinical leadership.
  • Maintain timely, professional communication with candidates throughout the hiring process.
  • Build and maintain candidate pipelines for hard-to-fill and high-growth positions.
  • Help identify recruiting needs before staffing shortages become critical.
  • Maintain awareness of candidates throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements.
  • Initiate background checks and credential verification.
  • Assist with employment documentation and HRIS onboarding.
  • Track completion of required onboarding paperwork.
  • Help ensure employees meet applicable hiring and credential requirements before being scheduled.
  • Collaborate with the People Operations Manager regarding healthcare hiring compliance.
  • Support a positive and organized candidate-to-employee transition.
  • Assist with coordinating and facilitating new employee orientation.
  • Help introduce employees to Journey Nursing Services' culture, expectations, systems, and resources.
  • Assist with caregiver skills review and orientation activities when appropriately trained.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff for required competency validation and client-specific training.
  • Support new employees during their initial transition into the organization.
  • Help ensure newly hired employees complete required onboarding education.
  • Monitor completion of assigned orientation and training requirements.
  • Assist with Journey University administrative and compliance activities.
  • Coordinate with educators and clinical leadership when training requirements are incomplete.
  • Support continuing education and workforce development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Scheduling and Clinical Operations to understand current staffing priorities.
  • Participate in workforce planning and recruiting strategy development.
  • Assist with recruitment metrics, hiring reports, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support career fairs, hiring events, school partnerships, and community outreach.
  • Assist with employee retention and workforce development projects.
  • Participate in organizational growth initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • When appropriately certified, trained, and competent: Assist with caregiver orientation and skills training.
  • Maintain or obtain CNA/HCA credentials when required for assigned responsibilities.
  • Provide occasional backup caregiving support when operationally necessary.
  • Reinforce Journey Nursing Services' standards for compassionate, safe, and professional client care.
  • Represent Journey Nursing Services professionally throughout the candidate experience.
  • Communicate consistently and respectfully with applicants, employees, and hiring managers.
  • Protect confidential employee and applicant information.
  • Maintain accurate and timely recruiting and onboarding records.
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, organization, and follow-through.
  • Remain flexible as hiring priorities and operational needs change.
  • Promote Journey Nursing Services' culture, mission, and employment opportunities accurately and positively.
  • Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive candidate experience.
