About The Position

This position administers the federally funded Recreational Trails Program (RTP), managing the full grant lifecycle from solicitation and application review through award, reimbursement, monitoring, federal reporting, and closeout. The role involves working with applicants, grant recipients, the Alaska Recreational Trails Advisory Committee, and department leadership to ensure projects meet federal and state requirements. Additionally, the position supports the Alaska Trails & Local Access System (ATLAS) by coordinating statewide trail inventory information, reviewing GIS-based trail data, incorporating RTP-funded projects, and collaborating with agencies, communities, tribes, and trail organizations to enhance trail planning and investment. This role is open to residents of Alaska and can be filled in Fairbanks, Anchorage, or Juneau.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Grants Administrator 1 with the State of Alaska.
  • Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods.
  • Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Knowledge of requirements, practices, and procedures for soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and processing proposals, and awarding and administering grants and agreements.
  • Ability to identify rules, principles, or relationships that explain facts, data, or other information; analyze information and make correct inferences or draw accurate conclusions.
  • Ability to use knowledge acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform job duties; work with, understand, and evaluate technical information related to the job; advise others on technical issues.
  • Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience in accounting, grants administration, budget administration, procurement, professional services contracts and/or providing administrative support to a business or organization.
  • Must be an Alaska Resident.
  • Provide transcripts to verify educational credentials.
