About The Position

Millwood Hospital is a 134-bed mental health facility in Arlington, Texas, providing inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment to children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults. The Recreational Therapy Intern will be supervised by a Licensed Recreation Therapist and have the opportunity to work with the populations served by the hospital, learn about the facility’s community impact, and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams. This is an unpaid internship. The intern must attend full hospital and departmental orientations during Week 1, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program for Recreational Therapy or another related field and has met the requirements to participate in a practicum or internship.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Successful completion of background and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and planning therapeutic recreation programs.
• Conduct assessments.
• Participate in treatment teams with a multidisciplinary team approach.
• Attend full hospital and departmental orientations during Week 1, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
