Requirements

Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program
Ability to multi-task and take initiative.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
Read, write, understand and communicate the English language.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with individuals living with dementia, behavioral health challenges, developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or other specialized populations.

Responsibilities

Assisting with the planning and facilitation of recreational and therapeutic activities
Supporting resident participation and engagement in programs and events
Building positive relationships with residents and families
Assisting with outings, special events, and community activities
Learning documentation and assessment processes related to recreational therapy
Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members
Observing and learning therapeutic approaches used with various resident populations
Supporting residents living with dementia, mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and other complex conditions
Assisting with activity preparation, set-up, and clean-up
Participating in meetings, training opportunities, and professional development activities
Help residents experience purpose, connection, and joy throughout their day.
