About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehab in Frisco, Texas is seeking a dedicated and compassionate PRN Recreational Therapist to work on a multidisciplinary team in the Day Neuro Clinic. The program focuses on helping patients with acquired brain injuries return to their highest level of independence in leisure and avocational activities, as well as community reintegration. Patients are treated as part of a multidisciplinary team, six hours a day, Monday through Friday. Experience in cognitive rehab, SCI, TBI, and CVA is preferred. The ideal candidate will be creative, innovative, and work well within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field.
  • Current national certification from NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability to work with diverse patient populations.

  • Strengths or particular interest in community re-integration, adaptive sports, expressive arts & local community resources.
  • Cognitive rehab, SCI, TBI and CVA experience.
  • Flexibility to pick up weekday shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement recreational therapy programs tailored to patients’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs.
  • Conduct patient assessments and create individualized treatment plans to support rehabilitation goals.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic activities, including arts, music, games, exercise, and community outings, to promote functional improvement.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists.
  • Educate patients and families on the benefits of recreational therapy and provide strategies for continued engagement post-discharge.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and participate in team meetings to discuss care plans.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with facility policies and safety guidelines.
