About The Position

The Ridge Behavioral Health System is seeking a Recreational Activity Aide to join their team. This is a PRN position with varied shifts, working 8 hours per shift. The Ridge is the only free-standing psychiatric hospital in the Central Kentucky area, providing psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. They offer various programs including Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Individual Counseling, and Medication Management. Mental Health Technicians at The Ridge provide routine non-acute physical care and lead educational groups based on identified needs in the Master Treatment Plan. The role involves assisting in organizing recreational therapy sessions, maintaining documentation of therapy services, and ensuring treatment plans are suitable for patients' physical condition and preferences.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including the disease of addiction.
Must have clear communication / interaction skills and demonstrate competency in facilitating psycho-education groups.

Nice To Haves

Some college course work preferred.
Experience may be accepted in lieu of college course work.

Responsibilities

Assist in organizing recreational therapy sessions to interact with patients and offer recommendations for physical and mental wellness.
Assist in maintaining high quality documentation of all therapy services consistent with the hospitals’ policies.
Assist in ensuring treatment plans are suitable for patients’ physical condition and are in accordance with the hospital policies and the patients’ preferences.
