About The Position

This role involves preparing, coordinating, and supervising activities for offenders/detainees. The position requires explaining and demonstrating the proper technique and use of all recreational equipment, enforcing safety rules and regulations, and inspecting recreation areas for cleanliness and safety. The role also includes maintaining recreation department records, assessing the needs and interests of offenders/detainees to plan activities, ordering, maintaining, and scheduling repairs for equipment, and purchasing necessary equipment and supplies. Other duties as assigned may also be part of the role.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
• 2 + years of experience leading a recreation program.
• Administrative, clerical, and customer service experience required.
• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems quickly and use technology effectively).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to be tactful, have excellent judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive situations.

• Accessing the needs and interests of offenders/detainees and planning activities accordingly.
• Ordering, maintaining, and scheduling the repair of all recreation department equipment.
• Purchasing equipment and supplies needed for all recreational activities.
