About The Position

The Recreation Manager holds a leadership position in the Park Place Home and is responsible to develop, implement and monitor programs which meet the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of the residents. Is responsible for department administration and programming. Ensures a commitment to resident safety and to our “culture of safety” as per the Strategic Directions of Park Place Seniors Living.

Requirements

Degree or Diploma in Recreation Therapy or related field preferred.
Minimum two (2) years of experience in recreation programming, preferably in long-term care.
Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
Effective communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team.
Ability to manage conflict, stress, and dynamic work environments.
Proficient in clinical documentation and equipment management.
Physical ability to perform therapy duties including lifting, walking, and bending.

Nice To Haves

Class 4 Driver’s License
Experience with volunteer coordination and public relations is an asset.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor programs that meet the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of residents.
Manage department administration and programming.
Ensure commitment to resident safety and a "culture of safety".
Maintain communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
Record attendance, progress notes, and care plan updates using MDS and RAPs protocols.
Participate in resident assessments and contribute to care planning.
Build relationships with community agencies and partners to enhance programming.
Represent the organization in professional associations and community initiatives.
Adhere to and promote health and safety policies and procedures.
Report incidents, unsafe conditions, and equipment issues promptly.
Ensure safe use of equipment and infection control practices.
Comply with Park Place’s and provincially-mandated Occupational Health and Safety policies and safe work practices.
Be involved in all aspects of the Health and Safety Program, including using safe work procedures, promoting health and safety policy and awareness, making safety suggestions, and reading OHS minutes.
Take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of Residents, self, other workers, and the general public.
Report any near miss, injury, accident, or equipment damage to supervisor immediately and complete required reports.
Correct and/or report unsafe conditions.
Set a good example.
