Recreation Therapist-Part Time
About The Position
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is hiring a Recreational Therapist for their Inpatient Rehab Unit. This is a Part Time position (20 Hours) working Monday through Friday from 1 PM to 5 PM. The role involves planning and implementing medically prescribed recreational therapy programs for patients based on their diagnosis, acuity, level of function, and cognition to support optimum patient care. This includes performing in-depth evaluations using various assessment tools to identify a patient's cognitive, social, emotional, and motor function for leisure/recreation participation. Treatment programs are primarily implemented through leisure education and skills, adaptive leisure equipment, and activity analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Level Degree
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
- BLS within 90 days
- 1 year Related Experience
Responsibilities
- Plans and implements medically prescribed recreational therapy program for patients based on their diagnosis, acuity, level of function and cognition that supports optimum patient care.
- Performs in-depth evaluation of patients utilizing a variety of assessment tools that identify patient's cognitive, social, emotional and motor function for leisure/recreation participation.
