About The Position

Gulfport Behavioral Health System, is a 92-bed psychiatric hospital offering child, adolescent, adult and military service behavioral health programs and treatment services both inpatient and outpatient. The PRN Recreation Therapist, Art Therapist, or Music Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing recreation activities for each assigned program. This includes defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to children, adolescent, adult and military patients.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational, Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline.
One (1) year of related experience.
Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
Successful completion of CPR Certification.
Successful completion of CPI – de-escalation and restraint training prior to assisting with a restraining procedure or within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of mental illness.
Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy.
