About The Position

Parkwood Behavioral Health System (a UHS facility) provides behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region. We offer a full continuum of care that provides treatment options to meet the individual needs of adults, adolescents and children. Parkwood Behavioral Health System includes a 148-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. We are currently seeking a Recreation Therapist to work on an as needed basis (PRN). The Recreation Therapist assesses patient’s leisure and recreational development needs, providing age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups and establishing behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Parkwood Behavioral Health System.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Recreation Therapy, or other human services field.
• One year prior psychiatric experience preferred.
• CTRS preferred.
• Knowledge of individual, group and family therapy theory and practice
• Group leadership skills
• Knowledge of age specific growth and development
• Knowledge of crisis and behavior management
