About The Position
The Idaho Youth Ranch is seeking a Recreation Specialist for the Hays House residential facility. Hays House is the only 24-hour shelter for homeless and runaway youth in the Treasure Valley and Idaho’s only Safe Place®. In addition to emergency shelter services, Hays House offers respite care and drop-in services. The Recreation Specialist will coordinate and implement therapeutic recreational activities for the youth in our care, contributing to the mission of nurturing hope, healing, and resilience.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age
- Must have a valid Idaho driver’s license or obtain one within 15 days of hire
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
Responsibilities
- Identifies recreational interests for each youth and develops the recreational section of the Service/Treatment Plan
- Create, develop and schedule recreation, large muscle activities (LMA) and service learning opportunities that are sensitive and inclusive of individual youth needs, limitations and restrictions
- Develop community relationships for recreation and service learning opportunities
- Provides care and supervision to youth residents
