About The Position

Performs maintenance and custodial duties and is responsible for the safety and supervision of participants in Village coordinated functions within the Community Center and athletic field. This role involves general maintenance, clean-up, customer service, concession duties, operating recreation software, assisting with recreational activities, facility maintenance and inspections, and training new employees. The position also enforces safety and department rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and specialized training/experience as a camp instructor, teacher, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to establish good customer relations.
  • Ability to deal with people effectively, courteously, and enthusiastically.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods & equipment typically used in recreational work and clean up duties.
  • Knowledge of basic rules of safety and ability to enforce applicable rules and regulations.
  • Physical strength and agility to perform assigned tasks, including bending, twisting, walking, climbing, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
  • Maintain high ethical, honesty and moral standards.
  • Fluent in the English language.
  • Must be a non-smoker.
  • Applicants must complete all requirements established by the Village of Pinecrest for employment, which may include a written examination, typing test, psychological screening, polygraph examination, comprehensive background investigation, and a job-related medical examination including a drug/alcohol screening test.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a licensed driver status in the State of Florida.
  • Ability to become CPR and AED certified.
  • Ability to understand and follow simple, oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work assigned schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Ability to perform several tasks at one time.
  • Ability to follow safety and other department rules and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of organization.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and meet department goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters and exercise discretion.
  • Ability and responsibility to effectively work independently, exercise discretion and independent judgment and maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the execution of duties.
  • Ability to get along with others and work effectively and courteously with fellow workers, officials, other agencies and the public.
  • A valid driver license from any state must be uploaded with application.

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general maintenance and clean up duties such as emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, wiping down tables and chairs, replenishing toilet paper and hand towels, and cleaning restrooms.
  • Performs manual work in semi-skilled jobs involving maintenance, repair of buildings, grounds and construction, including pressure cleaning, graffiti removal, and painting.
  • Greets visitors and assists the public in person and on the telephone by providing general information regarding the Community Center’s programs and events.
  • Performs concession and cashier duties including sale of retail products and handles cash and credit card transactions.
  • Operates recreation software for membership, class, and program registration.
  • Assists with the coordination of recreational activities and programs, including setting up and cleaning rooms for activities and party rentals.
  • Performs monthly facility maintenance and inspections as assigned.
  • Assists in training new employees on the recreation software and daily responsibilities.
  • Performs daily facility inspections to ensure proper facility standards are met.
  • Enforces safety and other department rules and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
