About The Position

Riverdale City is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and community-focused Recreation Specialist to help coordinate recreational programs and activities that enrich the quality of life for residents of all ages. This position plays a key role in supporting the City's recreation offerings, fostering positive community engagement, and assisting with special events. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing recreation, community services, event coordination, or closely related duties; or An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Knowledge of recreation program development and administration.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations associated with various sports and recreational activities.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and common software applications, including: Microsoft Word, Spreadsheets, General office software programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, community organizations, participants, and the public.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of age groups and backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Negative drug and alcohol screening results.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support City recreation programs and activities.
  • Assist with the planning, organization, and implementation of community recreation services.
  • Promote positive public relations and maintain a favorable image of Riverdale City.
  • Monitor, maintain, and control the use of recreation equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with the City's annual Old Glory Days Celebration and other special events.
  • Collaborate effectively with City staff, volunteers, community partners, and participants.
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents and program participants.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
