About The Position

These are seasonal positions (working 38 hours per week), and will end approximately six (6) months after date of hire. Employees who are initially hired for any Seasonal position shall be placed at Step 3, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps. To be considered for employment, applicants must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • three (3) months experience leading, directing, supervising, coaching, or teaching children and/or adults at a recreation facility, a childcare facility, a childcare program, camps, educational institutions, therapeutic recreational programs, team, organized youth programs, or other similar programs.
  • American Red Cross First Aid and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
  • Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400).
  • A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record at time of hire.

  • Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision provide leadership and functional supervision to recreation and volunteer participants
  • lead and organize daily program and facility activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
