About The Position

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a self-motivated, customer service-oriented Recreation Specialist to join our Aquatics team. The Recreation Specialist for our Aquatics department plays a central role in the successful operation of O'Fallon's aquatics programming by overseeing staff, facility operations, customer service, and administrative functions. The Recreation Specialist hires, trains, schedules, evaluates, and supervises part-time aquatics personnel, including more than 100 Lifeguards and Swim Instructors, while also providing daily guidance to a full-time Pool Supervisor. They plan, develop, and manage a variety of recreational and aquatic programs, coordinate with city departments and community partners, and serve as Manager on Duty to ensure smooth facility operations and positive customer experiences. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations at Alligator's Creek Aquatic Center and the Renaud Center, assisting with maintenance and filtration systems, responding to after-hours emergencies, and addressing customer concerns. The role also encompasses administrative duties such as researching and preparing reports, overseeing program budgets, purchasing equipment and supplies, and developing program materials like manuals, rules, and announcements.

Requirements

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid Missouri State driver's license
  • Able to work nights, weekends, holidays or other irregular hours, as required
  • Able to obtain a first-aid/CPR card

Nice To Haves

  • Lifeguard Instructor, Certified Pool Operators and/or Parks and Recreation Professional Certification preferred
